After-school Community Learning Center (CLC) The Community Learning Center (CLC) at Thirty-fifth Street School offers activities for students of all ages and developmental levels. Our center focuses on five key core program areas which are; Education & Career Development, Sports Fitness & Recreation, Character and Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills and The Arts.
Our CLC’s academic program is aligned with MPS Learning Targets to ensure that after-school opportunities support the curriculum implemented during the regular school day. Our CLC is in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. Each member of our center is also a member of the Boys & Girls Club.
The CLC’s academic program focuses on the areas of reading and math. We have a program called select 20 which is an intensive tutoring program for students who need improvement in the areas of math and reading. These students are tutored by two of our day school teachers. The curriculum they use for this tutoring program was provided by MPS and assesses students progress throughout the tutoring program.
The CLC strengthens parent involvement as well as community and neighborhood connections. Parents are offered opportunities to participate in family nights which are focused on helping them develop skills & techniques that will help increase their child’s academic achievement.
