Welcome “The mission of 68th Street Early Childhood Center’s inclusive, child-centered program is to provide a loving, caring and nurturing environment that fosters creative, independent thinkers. Children develop social competence and learn how to communicate and work effectively in a diverse community. Children go beyond acquiring basic skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and decision makers by developing a desire for lifelong learning.”
As principal of 68th Street Early Childhood Center (ECC), I want to welcome you to our small learning community. Located on the northwest side of Milwaukee in the Lenox Heights neighborhood, our school lives up to its reputation within the community. 68th Street ECC is highly respected and stays true to its description as “a great place for a great start.” We deliver a high quality education that equips children with basic resources and skills needed to succeed in elementary school. The dedicated, compassionate staff is committed to the education of young children.
At 68th Street ECC, children are treated as unique individuals and are valued for their talents and learning styles. Pupils enrolled at our school build self-confidence through praise and affirmation and are constantly reminded that they can and will succeed. With a half-day program Monday through Thursday for K3/K4 and an all day program Monday through Thursday and half-day on Friday for K5, children are comfortable spending time at 68th Street ECC and are able to develop new relationships and meet new friends.
One of our most important goals at 68th Street ECC is to integrate the arts with the academic curriculum. Through art, music and other fine arts activities, children are able to express their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of mediums. Through play and challenging hands-on activities, children make personally meaningful choices and construct their own knowledge while receiving support and positive feedback from the 68th Street staff. Other key features of our program include High Scope methods, the Reggio approach, Math Expressions and Computer/Technology Instruction.
To learn more about our wonderful school or to take a tour, please call the 68th Street ECC office at (414) 874-3070. I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Jacquelyn Humphrey, Principal
