Getting Involved

As a parent, you are one of the key ingredients needed to ensure that your child has a safe and educational school experience, Several things you can do to aid your child’s education include:

  • Join your school’s parent organization, school governance council, or through an MPS Volunteering Program
  • Ask what opportunities and resources are offered for parents and select those that best meet your family's needs
  • Visit your school’s parent center to talk with other parents and learn more about your school’s educational program as well as the MPS Learning Targets
  • Keep in close communication with your children’s teachers and administrators
  • Know your Rights and Responsibilities

Remember, school staffs are there to help you make the educational experience positive for all families.
Listed below are some things you can do to support your children:

  • Turn off the television and read to your children.
  • Visit the library on a regular basis to borrow books and use the computers
