Mission

At the Academy of Accelerated Learning, we believe that children of all cultures and abilities can and will learn. We challenge each learner to reach his or her highest potential. To accomplish our goal of educating all students, we recognize the importance of collaborating with parents and community members to achieve results. At the Academy of Accelerated Learning, children will be nurtured in a safe, caring and respectful environment where a variety of instructional methods and unique learning styles inspire students and staff alike. Students will be academically, socially and technologically prepared to become productive and contributing members of an ever-changing society.

Dear students and families,

As principal, I want to welcome you to our prestigious learning community. Located on the southwest side of Milwaukee, the Academy of Accelerated Learning is a K4 – grade 5 school with remarkably gifted students and a staff who is passionate about education. At AAL, we believe in empowering students, staff, parents and the community to achieve excellence. We set high expectations for our students and in turn they continue to meet and surpass those expectations. AAL students come to school prepared to be challenged intellectually and inspired by their teachers and peers alike. As our students grow, they learn the importance of self-confidence and respect towards others. By the time they leave AAL, students are well on their way to becoming valuable members of society.

We are extremely proud to have the honor of being named a National Demonstration Site for Accelerated Learning. After the Demonstration Site Committee visited AAL, it was determined that our learning community was the “best of the best.” Our school is recognized as the epitome of an accelerated school and has received national recognition. As a key site in MPS, we are privileged to provide this high level of public education to families.

The Academy of Accelerated Learning is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School and is currently working towards full authorization. IB is a “transdisciplinary programme of international education designed to foster the development of the whole child. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development. The PYP draws on research and best practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children.”

AAL values the importance of educating the whole child. This means that children are educated in daily life lessons as well as in core subjects and Fine Arts. Because of our commitment to reaching the whole child, we encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities. By joining a sports team and becoming a member of a club, students develop their personal interests and skills while collaborating with their peers to achieve a common goal.
