The Accelerated Program for the Exceptional Bilingual Student

MPS leads the nation in the caliber of Gifted and Talented Programs available for students. Allen-Field Elementary School offers the only bilingual Gifted and Talented Program for academically talented native Spanish-speakers in grades 3–5 in the state of Wisconsin. The program is available citywide to students who both benefit and learn well in a fast-paced, rigorous and stimulating environment. The Gifted and Talented Program provides additional teaching and curriculum above and beyond the strong regular education program in place with its ongoing enrichment and extension activities.

The Gifted and Talented Program is characterized by academic intensity and in-depth learning opportunities in art, drama and technology. Students participate in long-term projects, cultural activities and after-school pursuits. Community partnerships with the Milwaukee Ballet, First Stage Milwaukee Theater Company, the Milwaukee Art Museum, UW-Milwaukee’s College for Kids and DanceWorks enhance Allen-Field’s Gifted and Talented Program.

Upon completion of the Gifted and Talented Program at Allen-Field, students are encouraged to enroll in Samuel Morse Middle School for the Gifted and Talented to continue their education and graduate with six years of this type of specialized teaching and learning.
