Our Mission

“At Brown Street Academy, we develop strong reading, writing and mathematics skills through the multiple intelligences (linguistics/language, spatial art, mathematics, kinesthetics/body movement, naturalist, musical, interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences). Children are given the opportunity to excel so that they meet or exceed proficiency on grade level standards/Learning Targets. We use students’ multiple intelligence strengths as gateways to engage them in higher level thinking. We prepare them to be productive citizens and lifelong learners.”

Dear Families,

As principal of Brown Street Academy, I want to welcome you to our magnificent school. We strive to provide our young learners with many opportunities to develop their academic skills by accommodating to all different styles of learning. By motivating our students to succeed, the Brown Street staff is proud of the valuable teaching and learning that occurs daily in our classrooms. 

At Brown Street, we focus on Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, realizing that each student is an individual that learns in a unique way. We celebrate these differences! Teaching is directed towards helping students use areas of strength as gateways to conquering and understanding more challenging subject matter. With a standards-based curriculum, Brown Street ensures that all students receive proper instruction and reach their highest potential. Technology is integrated into classroom instruction, allowing for students to practice using computer software and developing safe Internet skills.

Our positive, engaging staff encourages students to become confident and independent learners. In addition to excellent academic instruction, students receive support developing their creativity and applying their individual talents to their daily work. By incorporating families into the decision-making process at Brown Street Academy, we strive to build a strong community and support network for our students. When families, school staff and community members work as a team, a single vision is maintained and similar goals are achieved.
