Twilight Program

At Burroughs, the community focuses on achieving 100% graduation rates and commits to delivering grade 8 graduates who are prepared to perform well in high school. The Burroughs Twilight Program is a wonderful option for students who have fallen behind in their classroom work or who would like to make up credits to stay on track to graduate. The program helps students who are behind in their education get promoted to the appropriate grade level so they may stay with their class and go on to high school.

The Twilight Program meets after school Monday through Thursday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Students cover a variety of subjects, learn new skills and gain knowledge in the core academic areas critical for advancement. The Twilight program is not a study or tutoring session. Students are required to keep up with their regular classroom studies and homework.

There are a limited amount of openings in the Twilight Program. Students who seek to enroll in the program must meet the following criteria:

• The student must have been retained one or more times.


• The student must be passing all of his or her current classes.


• The student must have a strong attendance record, usually in the 85-92% range.


• The student must have each of his or her academic teachers sign the Twilight recommendation form.
