Partnerships Cass St. School thanks the community for all of the support and collaboration that improves teaching and learning. Student understanding is enhanced when classroom lessons can be strengthened through real-world experiences. Listed below are a few of the growing partnerships Cass St. School has with the community.
Brady St. Association The Brady Street Association is one of the most active neighborhood associations in Milwaukee. Brady Street is in the center of Milwaukee's East Side and connects the neighborhood to the Milwaukee River via a footbridge that goes down to the lakefront. Cass St. School is within blocks of Brady Street. The school integrates perfectly into the eclectic array of Brady Street homes, housing, boutiques, ethnic restaurants, stores (hardware, food, pharmacy), specialty and service shops (coffee, tattoos and salon) as well as a Laundromat, firehouse, and churches.
Jewish Museum–Milwaukee
The Jewish Museum–Milwaukee honors the history of Jewish people in southeastern Wisconsin and celebrates Jewish heritage and culture. The Jewish Museum–Milwaukee offers several programs that showcase this history. Cass St. School has participated in several field trips to the museum where teachers and group leaders have taken students through exhibitions and engaged learning through a Chagall coloring sheet and scavenger hunt. For more information on the Milwaukee Jewish Museum, please write to 1360 N Prospect Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202 or call (414) 390-5730. Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE)
Cass St. School is working with MSOE to implement a pilot academic program that gears 6th, 7th and 8th graders toward science and engineering fields. This collaboration builds both mathematic and scientific awareness, understanding and skills. Cass St. students also gain valuable insight into hands-on learning through joint projects and mentorship opportunities. Homework First
The Helen Bader Foundation funds the Homework First program, a homework incentive program for student in Grades 2–5. Homework First uses a rewards system to promote responsibility and consistency among students. Cass St. students learn discipline and decision-making by choosing to complete assignments first and then to participate in after-school activities.
