Grade 4
Mrs. Docter earned a degree in elementary education (grades 1-6) from UW-Milwaukee in 1990. She has been teaching in MPS since 1991 and came to Cooper in 2001. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is the dual learning in her classroom: she learns from the kids as much as they learn from her. Kids are inquisitive and full of energy – this curiosity for learning rubs off on her.
Students enjoy Mrs. Docter’s classroom because she loves how kids explore, learn, and grow from good teaching. It is important for students to be given the opportunity to discover different strategies of learning through modeling, manipulatives, and practice. Mrs. Docter’s students are given those opportunities during the course of the school year. Mrs. Docter has high expectations for all students and challenges them to do their best.
Cooper’s staff works cohesively to prepare students for higher education. With high expectations, encouragement and support for many learning styles, students perform well. Cooper’s staff teaches responsibility, accountability, and perseverance. The students have fun learning, too! This school is a great place to learn because parents are so involved in their children’s education. |
