Message From The Principal

Dear Craig Montessori School Community,

image of school buildingHello friends, families and students! Welcome to Craig Montessori School’s bright and productive learning community. My name is Philip Dosmann and I am happy to be principal of a school that offers students such dynamic education, quality teaching and unique learning opportunities.

The Montessori method of education is based on the philosophy that children reach their fullest potential through multi-age interactions in an inquiring, cooperative and encouraging atmosphere. Children stay with a teacher for three years, and each class includes children of different ages and abilities. Our staff focuses on fostering competent and responsible students who demonstrate creativity, coordination and interdependence in their work. It is critical that our young learners build confidence in their abilities, feel good about their school experience and receive praise for their accomplishments.

Dr. Maria Montessori believed that the work of education is divided between the teacher and the environment. The curriculum and learning that takes place at Craig Montessori is not the typical teacher to student transaction. Teachers collaborate with children while they learn, creating a communal environment. Students participate in interactive, hands-on learning that leads to high self-esteem and a deep-rooted love for learning. As students explore their individual talents and interests, they remain motivated and invested in their education. If you come in to observe a classroom, I guarantee you will see learning take place in its purest form — a truly beautiful thing to watch!

Craig Montessori School would not be able to offer such fine education and learning opportunities if it were not for the support of our families and the surrounding community. Parents are encouraged to remain active in their child’s education by volunteering in classrooms, motivating students to meet challenges with dedication and instilling strong values at a young age. Our community partners offer students the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom walls. By building relationships with local organizations, students welcome leaders into their classroom and attend field trips while gaining unique perspectives on the world around them.

I look forward to working closely with our families throughout the school year and intend to uphold Craig Montessori School’s educational values. I welcome and encourage all families to contact our school at (414) 393-4200. Please call to schedule a personal tour of our school, where our dedicated teaching staff will gladly open their classroom doors and welcome you!

Sincerely,

Philip Dosmann, Principal
