Events

At Custer High School, special school events build a sense of community as well as school spirit and pride. By participating in or attending these events, students and families may exhibit their own talent or cheer on other members of the Custer community. Please check the calendar section for more information on when these events take place. For more information or to get involved, please call the school office at (414) 393-4900. Special events at Custer include:

Drum Line Performances

Custer’s Drum Line represents the high school with pride. By performing throughout the community, the Drum Line establishes an identity for itself and earns Custer students recognition for their unique talents. In past years, the Drum Line has participated in the Battle of the Bands at Rufus King High School and won various awards for exemplary performances. Other high schools, including Riverside and Rufus King, have also received awards for their performances.

Scholarship Basketball Game

Each year a basketball game between staff members and students is played. This game unites the school and serves as a fundraiser to earn money for a former student who died on the basketball court years ago. The money raised is used to provide scholarships for deserving students.

Fall Open House

At Custer High School’s Fall Open House, the staff shares information with parents and families about the school’s educational program. Individual teachers explain their content area curriculum and, along with the Guidance Department, the assessment process used to measure student progress. Families also are given the opportunity to tour Custer and ask questions.

University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee GEAR UP Program

Two full-time GEAR UP staff members provide excellent support in preparing Custer students for acceptance to, and successful performance as students at, 4-year colleges and universities.
