OUR VISION...
Continue the development of a full-service school setting where citizens of this community are proud to have their children educated. "Full-service school" describes the movement to create an array of integrated support services in schools that respond to the overwhelming issues faced by urban families - economic conditions, drugs, violence, health issues, etc.
OUR MISSION...
The Andrew S. Douglas Community Academy is committed to providing guidance and support to insure that our youth and adults will develop into outstanding scholars and productive citizens.
OUR PHILOSOPHY...
Our philosophy of "Community School" is a well equipped facility, operating under the guidance of an energetic, devoted, and exceptionally well trained staff. We have high expectations for every student that attends Andrew S. Douglas Community Academy. Embedded in our view of education is the idea that sharing, caring and self respect open the doors to success.
We believe that...
- All children can and must learn at high levels.
- Supportive home, school and community environments are the essentials needed for positive child and adolescent development.
- The curriculum must be culturally sensitive and inclusive.
- To be human is to be a member of the community.
- All members of the community share the responsibility of educating our children.
