The Andrew S. Douglas Community Academy Gold Card Club was treated to a beautiful luncheon at the Olive Garden Restaurant on Brown Deer Rd. Ms. Helen Martin, the Consumer Education teacher from Andrew S. Douglas, gave us a lesson on etiquette and manners before we left the school. We learned many things we had not heard before. For example, when you sit down at a table, you should approach your chair from the left side. We would like to thank Ms. Martin for giving us the lesson on manners. It really helped at the restaurant. There were many forks and plates on the table to choose from. The table was so beautiful so was the restaurant. The manager, Mr. Jeff Kelly gave all of us an interesting talk about the restaurant. In the picture above, you can see Mr. Jeff Kelly speaking to our group.

Next he gave us a tour of the kitchen area. We saw the refrigerator with all of the desserts. Then we saw where the servers pick up the orders. After that we saw the little freezer where they put the dishes for the salad to keep the dishes cold. We also saw the freezer. The freezer was so big, almost all of us were able to get inside it at the same time. We saw how they made their pizza and their mussels. |

We saw a cart with five or six shelves of delicious garlic bread. We saw huge vats that are used for making the sauces. We were surprised to learn that everything is freshly made from scratch everyday. |

At the luncheon we were given our choice of soup or salad. The soups that we could choose from were Pasta e Fagioli, Zuppa Toscana, or Minestrone. Everybody enjoyed their choices. |

Then our main meal was served. We were given our choice of Chicken Parmigiana, Cheese Ravioli, or Lasagna. Lunch was terrific! Then Mr. Kelly brought us the most delicious ice cream for dessert. |

Here is a picture of our principal, Ms. Mayfield, enjoying the salad. We were very happy to have Ms. Mayfield come with us to the Olive Garden, because it made us feel like what we did was very important. We are grateful to have a principal who cares so much about us and our success. |
