Maintaining a Safe Environment

Rewarding positive behavior is an important part of the discipline policy at Engleburg. “Englebucks” are currency given when a child helps out, makes a special effort, or handles a potential problem in a positive way. The Englebucks add up and can be cashed in once a month for school supplies every month.

In addition to school wide rules, each class creates its own set of rules which are posted in their classrooms. Teachers develop a discipline plan that is then made clear to the students and applied when rules are broken. This participation and agreement ensures all children know what is expected of them and the consequences of improper classroom conduct.

Children may be removed from the classroom for disruptive behavior, and teachers may call upon the administration to assist. If the offense is serious, or there are consistent problems, the parent will be called for a phone or in-person conference. Parents are important partners and every attempt will be made to remedy the situation before a suspension is issued. Records are kept of parent contacts.
