Community Service - It is the expectation of Fairview that our students learn the importance of giving back or serving their family, school, neighborhood and community. To fulfill this expectation, Fairview requires that all students in grades 6 – 8 perform at least 2.5 hours of service to the school and/or community each quarter.
Service for Fairview may include tutoring students, assisting in classrooms and the LMC, and running school-wide activities. One hour of service may be earned during service involving other volunteer organizations.
Piggy Bank Day - The Save for America program is offered at Fairview and is designed to help children learn the value of saving money. Piggy Bank Day will be held every Friday as long as there is student attendance. A volunteer will collect money from 7:45-8:30 a.m.. There are no minimum deposits so students can deposit as much or as little money as they wish. Withdrawals are not allowed at the school. Students will earn 5% interest and Guardian Credit Union will donate $1.00 to every new account opened. A Young Adults club is available for 13-17 year olds.
Guardian also has a program called Savings Safari club. For each $5.00 deposited, children will receive on Koala Coin. These coins are used for purchases at the Safari Store located at any Guardian Credit Union location. A letter stating the monthly-earned Koala Coins will be mailed directly to the student's home for any deposits made at the school.
During summer vacation students can make deposits at
any of the Guardian Credit Union branch offices.
Girl Scouts - There are 4 different kinds of girl scouts. There are Daisy Girl Scouts for K5. There brownies for grades 1, 2, and 3. For 4, 5, and 6th grades we have Juniors. Cadettes are for 7 and 8th grades. The girl scouts meet every other Monday after school and in the evenings at Fairview. They sell cookies and nuts, make crafts, sing songs, play games, go on field trips, go camping, swimming, horseback riding, and make s'mores over a campfire.
