Supply
List for 2011-2012 School Year
Thank you in advance for
sending supplies for our classroom – they are greatly appreciated by all.
This year we have decided to minimize the cost of purchasing supplies for the
classroom at the beginning of the year, and instead have them supplied
throughout the school year when we need them most. Therefore, each family will
be assigned two separate weeks of the school year and will be expected to
provide a specific list of items that are needed for that particular week (e.g.
tasting for a week, art supplies, tissues, paper towel, etc). The list will be
sent to you the week prior to the assigned date. More details will follow in
the fall.
ALL students please label
with your child’s name the following items:
q 1 backpack or bag that will hold a standard size
folder (I will supply the folder). If possible,
have the bag be character/cartoon-free.
q 1 pair of indoor shoes that are left in the
classroom all year. The shoes should be character- and cartoon-free, no lights,
no sounds, not bedroom slipper-type,
must not easily fall off feet, and must be able to be worn outside (in case of
fire-drill). I might recommend Crocs or a slip-on canvas shoe similar to a pair
of Vans.
q 1 season-appropriate change of clothing (including
under pants) in a gallon-size zip-lock bag.
q $20.00 for: Practical Life materials, and
miscellaneous project and material supplies to our Room 5 Classroom account (checks payable to Fernwood Montessori)
K5 students please bring to share:
q 1 old, over-sized t-shirt for art projects
q 2 reams unlined white copy paper
q Your special assignment (contact me if you lose
your assignment)
K4 students please bring to share:
q 1 pad of 9”x 12” watercolor paper (not spiral
bound)
q 2 reams unlined white copy paper
q Your special assignment (contact me if you lose
your assignment)
K3 students please bring to share:
q 2 boxes of facial tissues made with 100% recycled
paper. Try the brands Seventh Generation, 365 or similar.
Character/cartoon-free box.
q 2 reams unlined white copy paper
Please do not write your
child’s name on any of the materials sent in (unless noted) as they will be
used by all the students.
Have a GREAT summer, and see you all in the fall.

family to be deposited into a Room 12 Classroom Account. I will draw from this account, as needed, to
purchase classroom supplies or materials for special projects throughout the

I
will collect all the supplies and they will be shared by the whole class, so
please DO NOT WRITE YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR
HIS/HER BACKPACK.
Thank
you.

Morning Snack: We have been
experimenting with having snacks in room 27.
It seems that the children get hungry around 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., and
a small snack helps them keep their attention on their work. It also helps allow for many opportunities
for children to prepare and serve food, as 2 children act as hosts and
hostesses each day. It has also been
shown that eating small amounts of food every 1 ½ to 2 hours keeps the
metabolism up and actually helps maintain a healthy weight.
Typical snacks we have had
this year are:
A 1lb bag of carrots, celery and ranch dressing,
A 1lb bag of pretzels (12 to
15 oz),
A box of vanilla wafers,
A bag of oranges,
A small watermelon,
A box of graham crackers
A bag of apples with caramel
dip.
We would like each child to
bring a snack for the class 1 day per month.
That child would be the host or hostess for that day. We will send out a schedule in the fall.
If you do not wish to send
snacks, please send $1.50 per month. If
you wish to send money, please send $20.00 in an envelope marked “Snack” and
your child’s name, and I will purchase a snack for your child to serve on their
day.
