Though Lloyd Barbee MPS Montessori students are in the earliest stages of academic development, it is useful for them to familiarize themselves with multimedia and the Internet. Whether children explore the Internet at home or school, guidance should always be provided to ensure that our young learners grasp the concept of Internet safety. The sites listed below are safe for students to visit and offer opportunities for them to become comfortable using computer software and online resources.

Houghton Mifflin’s Education Place allows students to play fun learning games based on the material they learn in school.

At Fact Monster, students can find answers to all the questions they may have. Fact Monster provides an online almanac, dictionary and encyclopedia. It also has information that will help students successfully complete their homework.

NOGGIN, a Nick Jr. Web site, is sponsored by Nickelodeon. NOGGIN is designed for the youngest learners at Congress and offers instructional games, videos, a television schedule and printing materials. It also has a page specifically for parents. NOGGIN uses a “connected learning” approach, linking key educational content with experiences children know and love.

Parental permission is needed to access Kids’ Space Connection. Kids’ Space Connection is an international meeting place for children and school teachers. Students can communicate with people all around the world. They can also contribute to interesting projects and join a variety of clubs.
