Dear Honey Creek School Community,

Hello friends, parents and students! My name is Gitanjali Chawla and I am the Principal at Honey Creek School. Thirteen years ago, I started out as a parent, began volunteering and eventually became a teaching assistant. I enjoyed this position so much that I became a classroom teacher for second and third grade. My dedication to education helped me become the Implementer, then Assistant Principal. Finally, my journey has put me in my current position as the proud Principal of Honey Creek. I attended UW-Milwaukee and Alverno to receive my degrees. Honey Creek has been my second home ever since I moved to the United States from India. It is a K3 – grade 5 school with a capacity of about 370 students. It is my passion to continue working with a champion staff, intelligent students and their dedicated families in our mission to provide a quality educational program full of rich and meaningful experiences for our children.

Those of you who have met and worked with me over the years know that you can expect tireless dedication, fairness and high standards for students and staff — as well as a positive attitude and continuous recognition of student achievement.

I am a firm believer in securing the safety of every member of our school community and find that if we require students to take responsibility for small mistakes or unwise choices, more serious challenges are less likely to occur. Honey Creek has a calm, peaceful atmosphere because students understand that our rules are made with their safety and academic success in mind. Staff and students like to be here because they know they are truly cared for in every way. This highly positive atmosphere makes maximum academic achievement and emotional well-being a reality. Our ever-increasing test scores speak for themselves, and we continue to strive to reach even higher levels of proficiency in all subject areas.

Honey Creek parents are key stakeholders and they participate in a multitude of opportunities that keep them involved in their child/children’s education. Students rely on a strong support system as they develop into confident, responsible decision makers who are prepared to meet the demands of the global economy. With a variety of events taking place throughout the year, students and families are given the opportunity to experience the Honey Creek atmosphere first hand and to interact in the school environment, building a strong connection between families, students, staff and the community.

I look forward to working closely with our families every school year and vow to uphold Honey Creek School’s reputation as a quality educational institute as well as to elevate programming and student achievement in the months and years ahead!
