“The days of a school being just a building that is in the middle of a community and just educates kids are long gone. You have to become an integral part of the community and offer additional services to the community in the form of literacy, parent education — all those things have to be pieces of a school now.”

Principal Maurice Turner

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a safe, caring learning environment in which staff, students, parents, and community relationships merge to foster the high academic achievement of all students. Our goal is to be a community of lifelong learners and contributing members of society.

When a community is challenged by unemployment, poverty, and crime, it affects children’s view of life, as well as their learning. We believe all parents want the best for their family, but sometimes they are overwhelmed with the struggles of urban life. Our aim is to provide direction and support to families so that children can come to school worry-free and ready to learn.

Collaboration is the key to success: parents, community, staff, and students working together in the school.
