Research Opportunity Academic Development in Science

Each student assists a Faculty investigator who acts as their mentor on a current research project.  Provides participants with a meaningful experience in a health-related field and stimulates their interest in careers in science, medicine and biomedical research. Students will conduct their own research and present their results at the ROADS Scholars Research Symposium.  Must have math and science GPA of at least a 3.2.

Helps multicultural and disadvantaged students make a successful transition from high school to college.  A six-week summer bridge program for incoming freshmen that runs concurrently with UW-L’s summer session.  Students live in a residence halls have their meals at the student union and attend classes four days a week (Mon-Thur).  There are additional workshops and activities planned on the weekends.  Must have a GPA of at least a 2.0.

Summer High School Program

The two and a half week program, July 12th – July 27, 2012, consists of an Irish studies course and a variety of field trips and social activities.   The fully inclusive cost of the program is €1,900 (approx USD $2,450) and includes airport transfers (flight not included), tuition – Irish studies course, housing on-campus, all meals, field trips, daily and weekend sporting, cultural activities, and entertainment.

Senate Scholar Program

Wisconsin State Senate

The Senate Scholar Program is an intensive week-long educational program offered by the Wisconsin State Senate. Admission to the program is highly competitive and is limited to 33 academically exceptional high school juniors and seniors from around Wisconsin. Each Senate Scholar receives a hands-on, up-close view of the Legislature’s role in our democracy.
Senate Scholars gain experience in such diverse areas as policy development, constituent relations, and processing legislation by working with Senators, legislative staff and University of Wisconsin faculty.  Each Senate Scholar is required to stay at the Concourse Hotel in downtown Madison.
