Parents are a key component of effective schools and an integral part of Lincoln Avenue's educational program. Parent involvement takes many forms. It includes the parent's responsibility for their children's health, well being, and shared responsibilities in decisions about their children's education as well as the parent's participation in organizations that reflect the community's collaborative aspirations for all children. Parents, teachers, students and community working together will ensure the success of each student at our school. The Parent/Family Coordinator will be available to assist parents at all times. Please feel free to call the coordinator or stop in with your questions 902-9700.
CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS: We are continually seeking parent involvement in the classrooms to assist the students and teachers. Some of the activities you would be involved in could include Room Parent, Chaperone field trips, Book fair, fund-raising, picture day, field day. (Please see the principal for a volunteer form)
SCHOOL GOVERNANCE COUNCIL: As a parent, would you like your voice heard and impact the decisions made about what choices Lincoln Avenue School makes to ensure the best educational decisions for the children at Lincoln Avenue School? If so, please consider becoming a member of the School Governance Council. We value the parent input and this is a great way to become involved. The Governance Council is a team that meets once per month and discusses the education, the events, the budget, and the safety at Lincoln Avenue School. Please see an administrator for more information.
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION (PTO): We are striving to make our PTO a strong voice for Lincoln Avenue Elementary. It is a parent group that works to support the community building and educational needs of our children/students at Lincoln Avenue School. If you are interested, please see Mr, Velez-Medina or Ms. Maldonado. The PTO will assist in organizing events such as Mexican Heritage Parade in the beginning of the year, fundraising events and other various group events, as well as 5th grade promotion at the end of the year. This is another way to have your voice heard as a parent through school led meetings and shared decision-making teams. This group is vital to our success as a school because it helps bridge the school and home community.
PARENT SUPPORT: Parents are always welcome at Lincoln Avenue School. With your support, we are able to make a greater difference in the life of your child.
We ask that our families work together with Lincoln Avenue School to create a supporting educational environment. As a parent, we ask that you make the pledge to do the following:
Our HIP Cordinator, works closely with the principal, staff, and the Community Learning Center to help increase parent involvement at Lincoln Avenue School. We will be hosting Family Gathering Nights, monthly, to help parents support the acedemic needs of their children.
