Integrated Arts Program

Lloyd is proud of it's integrated arts program. Every student goes to art, music, gym, and the computer/publishing center for approximately an hour every week.

Art is taught to connect the principles of art to social studies, science, mathematics, and the language arts. Through this curriculum, students will gain an understanding of how art touches and shapes their lives. They learn to appreciate that arts and sciences are not separate entities. At Lloyd Street Global Education School, art is EVERYWHERE!

The students are exposed to music globally. They also participate in the ACE Program (Arts in Community Education). Fourth and fifth grade students also have the opportunity to participate in the Lloyd Street Choir.

The physical education teacher prepares all students for a healthy, fit lifestyle, coaches and organizes after school and Saturday basketball.

The computer/publishing center is used to prepare students to be computer literate. Students learn such skills as creating multimedia presentations, using e-mail, and doing research on the internet. They also learn publishing skills. A group of fifth grade students are chosen to be editors for the school's award winning newspaper, The Lloyd Street Times.

The library offers a wide selection of books, fiction and non-fiction. The students can check out books for their personal enjoyment or research. Students can also purchase books from several bookfairs held throughout the year as well as recieve free books through our school's RIF Program (Reading is Fundamental). The students can also test their book comprehension through the Accelerated Reading Program.
