Community Partners Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap Competition Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom (MHB) is a ground-breaking arts education program modeled after New York City Schools’ dance program, which was featured in the hit documentary film, “Mad Hot Ballroom.” While participating in a program organized by Danceworks, students at Lowell receive 10 weeks of instruction in tap and ballroom dancing from teachers at Danceworks. Lowell students compete at the Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap Competition in the spring and fall, exhibiting their skills performing the Cha-Cha, Fox Trot and Swing dances. At Lowell, an effort is constantly being made to build strong relationships with local organizations. Through partnerships, students are able to connect with community members and gain valuable experiences and insight that will guide them in their future endeavors.
TV 6 News
Every year Lowell is invited to help TV 6 with their lunch menu during the Wake Up News report. This year 2nd and 3rd graders were selected and read the menus for each day of the week in early October. Here are some photos from a recent trip to the studio.
Students from second grade recently helped decorated an evergreen tree at Cathedral Park. Fox6 News did a report about it for the 6:00 report and here is a link to that report: http://www.fox6now.com/witi-111210-tree-decorating,0,169992.story . |
