Parent Connection Parents and families are encouraged to play a strong role in their child’s education at Lowell. Formal education begins at the school and is further reinforced at home. By combining efforts at school with efforts at home, each child is able to rely on a strong support network, giving them the confidence they need to achieve academic success. While supporting children at their home is very important, many opportunities also exist for parents to become active in the Lowell community.
Parent-Teacher Conferences and Open Houses Parent-teacher conferences and Open Houses give parents and guardians the opportunity to visit Lowell, meet the staff and connect with the school community. Conferences enable families to chat personally with Lowell teachers about their child’s strengths and weaknesses. Open Houses at Lowell allow families to tour the school and see the classrooms where their children spend their days.
Opportunites to Chat with the Principal On certain mornings through the year, the principal invites parents and guardians, after dropping off the kids, to stay in school for a while longer in order to discuss with her important issues and ask questions. This enables families to connect with school leadership and interact with each other to address administrative and community topics.
PTO/Governance Council A strong PTO and School Governance Council help plan events and make important decisions concerning the Lowell community. Monthly meetings are held to ensure that the school continues building upon its many successes.
Volunteer Opportunities For parents and guardians who want to volunteer their time and talents, many opportunities exist. By becoming a Math tutor, Reading tutor or lunch helper, individuals may contribute to Lowell student success by offering their knowledge and skills.
