At James Madison Academic Campus, the dedication and generosity shown by partners within the community affects students in a positive way. By receiving support from outside organizations, students know they have a whole community behind them as they conquer the challenges set before them. Meet our partners:

BloodCenterWIUS First hosts the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), which is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be. This is an event where students across the country compete with robots they created. Local businesses sponser a school to make this possible. JMAC thanks GE Health Care for making a $9,000 donation and JCPenney for a $6,500 donation.

Cartridge WorldAt JMAC, we are on time, on task, and on a green mission. Did you know it takes a gallon of oil to make a new laser cartridge? Did you know a laser cartridge thrown into landfill can take up to 450 years to decompose? JMAC is protecting our environment for future generations with Cartridge World's help (located at 6650 W State St, Suite E). Parents, students, staff, and other members of the community can add their personal empty printer cartridges to be recycled in addition to JMAC's printing supplies.

BloodCenterWIBloodCenter of Wisconsin contributes to the discovery, diagnosis, treatment and cures for patients like no other single organization can by virtue of the expertise, diversity and innovation that reside within each of its service areas. Several times a year, the BloodCenter sets up stations with JMAC's Family & Consumer Education Department. Students (16 and older) are encouraged to "be a hero" and donate.

LCCThe Latino Community Center's Violence Free Zone (VFZ) program targets youth who are considered to be “chronic disruptors” in their high schools. The program was piloted at South Division High School, and was so successful that the Milwaukee Public Schools system expanded it to Bay View, Madison and Bradley Tech High Schools. VFZ staff cooperate with school social workers, faculty and safety aides to prevent the escalation of the youths’ behavior into more high-risk/illegal activities and, therefore, assist in changing the very climate of the school thus increasing the likelihood that youth will graduate from high school, get jobs, and eventually sustain their own healthy families. Program results include an astounding 32% drop in the number of violent incidents, a 20% decline in the number of reported non-violent incidents as well as a remarkable drop of 37% in suspension rates.

UWWJMAC students are given the opportunity to participate in the Education Talent Search (ETS) Program at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. The ETS Program provides tutoring services as well as ACT camps and workshops, in preparation for higher education, to all those who participate. Students can take advantage of these services before, during or after school. During the summer, students may go to the UW-Whitewater campus to participate in the camps. In addition, the program assists families in completing financial aid forms for college and offers many chances for all students to tour the UW-Whitewater campus.
