Robotics

JMAC has added an exciting robotics class to our course offerings. This curriculum has students building, programming and problem solving with robots. Our course offers a non-traditional way to teach science, math and technology standards while keeping the students fully engaged and hands on at all times. Robotics students use algebra, geometry, trigonometry and the science of physics daily. The course is imbedded in MPS's STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) initiative. The goal of STEM is to improve students' science and math comprehension by giving students practical applications of these topics. The integration of these concepts are a key component to this course.

Robotics students' are problem solvers, innovators, logical thinkers, collaborators, and inventors. This is an engineering style approach to education. The robotics class itself is set up to allow students to feel comfortable with new and sometimes very complicated concepts. It has students getting out of their comfort zone and taking the lead in their education. There are no wrong answers in robotics, just new discoveries. They learn by making mistakes and overcoming them through teamwork and troubleshooting. This is why JMAC loves ROBOTICS!

Stop by Mrs. Parkinson's class in room 242 and check out the latest robotics challenges we are working on. You are sure to be amazed. While you're there, don't forget to ask about our FIRST Robotics team.
