SLC:

SLC stands for Small Learning Community.
Research has shown that Small Learning Communities offer students a stronger connection to their teachers and classmates, creating a better environment for learning. SLCs also offer teachers a chance to work as a team and to know their students better.

To better serve the needs of our students, Pulaski was reorganized during the 2009-2010 school year into four Small Learning Communities:

Automotive Service Technology

Business, Finance and Computer Technology

Health Sciences and Biotechnology

Law, Criminal Justice and Government

Course Selection

Automotive Business Health Law

Once students select their SLC choices, class schedules are established and students continue in their chosen SLC for the duration of their high school career.

All staff members, with the exception of those who serve the needs beyond SLCs (principal, secretaries, engineers, etc.) belong to a particular SLC. Each SLC uses its resources and necessary components efficiently and effectively.

For more information see “School Reform”.
