AP Environmental Science

Advanced Placement Environmental Science at Riverside University High School is a year long course taught in a 48 minute period 5 days per week. Juniors and seniors recommended by their science teacher are eligible for this course. Ten hours of outside fieldwork research will be required each semester. The AP Environmental Science course is the equivalent of a one semester, introductory college course in environmental science. All students that sign up for the AP course are encouraged to take the exam in May. A student who successfully completes the exam can earn up to 3 college credits in an introductory environmental science course.
Environmental Science is a multidisciplinary course that infuses not only the sciences but social sciences and economics as well. It must be remembered however that this is a science course and the scientific process will be emphasized through lecture, discussion, research and laboratory activities.
