Parent Involvement

image of students sitting in the libraryAt Samuel Clemens Elementary School, we believe that parents are the first and most important educators in a child's life. Our staff strives to build upon the basic foundation and values instilled in young learners before they attend school. Parents are encouraged to support Clemens by becoming consistent participants in their children's education. The Clemens staff works with families to build a strong support network for all students. Parent involvement is critical for a child to succeed academically and grow socially.

For this reason, Clemens provides a variety of opportunities for parents to be actively involved in their child’s education. For more information on any of the items listed below or to get involved, please call the school office at (414) 875-6300.

Governance Council

The Governance Council meets monthly to discuss educational policies, the School Improvement Plan and the school budget.

School Activities

Clemens hosts a variety of family friendly events that give parents and students a chance to spend time together in an educational setting. Some of these activities include:

  • Family Literacy Nights
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Spring Extravaganza (Parent Recognition Ceremony)
  • Fall and Spring Open Houses

Volunteering

Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer in classrooms in order to help the Clemens staff complete tasks more efficiently. In addition, adult chaperones are often needed for field trips. We appreciate and are extremely grateful for the wonderful parents who offer generous donations of their time and energy to making Clemens such a great place. Please call the school office if you are interested in volunteering.
