Community Partnerships
Milwaukee Spanish Immersion School (MSIS) works hard to strengthen its relationships with community leaders and local organizations, ensuring that students are equipped with adequate resources and real-world knowledge outside the classroom. Community partnerships provide students with new perspectives and unique experiences. Through field trips and classroom visits, students ask questions of local leaders, gain new insight and appreciate the dedication and support of the surrounding community. At MSIS, we are grateful for the generosity of our partners and appreciate their participation in the education of our young people.
| Milwaukee Admirals Hockey |
|
| The Milwaukee Admirals Hockey team supports literacy and sponsors a contest to challenge students to read at home each month. The reading program began in October with each child taking home a Reading Log and Milwaukee Admirals “Reading the Ultimate Power Play” t-shirt to encourage reading at home and to kick-off the partnership challenge. After the first month, each participant who completed a Reading Log received a bracelet and their first jibbitz. A jibbitz is a small trinket that is attached to the bracelet. For each month for the rest of the school year, any child who completes a Reading Log receives an additional jibbitz for their bracelet. In addition, an Admirals player visits MSIS each month to read to a different classroom. Any reader who completes a Reading Log every month from October through March will receive a free ticket to the Admirals game on March 5, 2010. Additional tickets may be purchased for other family members. For more information, please call the school office at (414) 604-7600. |
