The main goal of the Teens Who Care (TWC) program is to teach and model positive leadership skills, and this is done through direct training and involvement in service learning projects. TWC students also receive numerous opportunities to build upon a number of school related skills, including public speaking and writing, as they are doing their projects. In addition, students learn to work in a goup, learn about responsibility, are involved in organizing activities and work on group decision making. TWC is also a program which teaches students many pre-vocational skills. Through their involvement in the service learning projects, these students are exposed to a number of jobs in their community. They then have opportunities to learn more about those jobs, see those jobs in action and network with various agencies and people. |
