WHICH STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM OUR SERVICES?

School Social Workers work with students who show signs of social, emotional, physical or environmental difficulties that interfere with their school adjustment and achievement.

The following are examples of behaviors that may indicate the need for School Social Work services:

  • failure to complete school work
  • lack of concern with appearance/apathy
  • excessive shyness
  • aggressiveness or impulsiveness
  • frequent physical complaints
  • poor peer/adult relationships
  • substance abuse
  • irregular school attendance
  • school-age pregnancy
  • depression
  • suicidal verbalizations/gestures
  • need for community social services
