Bookmarks and Favorites

This lesson will teach you how to mark a Web site for future reference using a shortcut known Favorites in Internet Explorer (IE).

These shortcuts will allow you to re-visit pages directly without always having to remember or type in the address. Bookmarks and Favorites are easy to set and use.

You can even organize shortcuts into folders that you create and name yourself, just as you might with a filing cabinet.

Both Netscape and IE come with their own set of Bookmarks and Favorites already in place. Most users, however, will add to these default settings.

Setting Shortcuts
  1.   Click Favorites (Internet Explorer).
  2.   Add a shortcut.--  Click "Add to Favorites", then click OK.
Note what your browser is calling this shortcut. In IE, you can rename the shortcut by selecting the existing name and typing in a new one.
  3.   Bookmark the next lesson.   Click on the lesson called "Using Shortcuts" in the menu on the right.
  4.   Bookmark the introduction.   Go to the introduction for this Shortcuts Booster by clicking on it in the menu on the right.
Set a shortcut for this page. (Try renaming it if you're using IE.)
Afterward, return to this lesson using your browser's Back button.
You can now set shortcuts for any Web pages you might like to revisit.

Using Shortcuts
  1.    Click Favorites (IE).   A short list of commands will appear, followed by folders (if any have been created) and shortcuts to individual Web sites.
  2.    Return to "Setting Shortcuts."    Click the name of the first bookmark you created in the lesson "Setting Shortcuts" to go immediately to that page.
