Learn about "Netiquette"

The internet rules for being polite

Netiquette on the NET

Netiquette means being polite and using the golden rule while you are using the Internet.

Our SUP - Student Use Policy - states:

Be polite. Do not be abusive in any message to others.

Use appropriate language. Do not use profanity, obscene comments, or words of hate or bigotry or racism. Illegal activities, such as threats, or copying without giving credit to the author is strictly forbidden.

Do not reveal personal addresses or phone numbers of others.

Use your fair share of time and resources - take care that the next person using the computer finds it in working condition.

Rules and Code of Ethics

Every student should act honorably with regard to copying and fair use of time and equipment.

Every student will respect the rights and privacy of others.

Every student's behavior will be a positive reflection on their school.

Netiquette also involves little ways of expressing yourself that are unique to the Internet

If you WRITE IN CAPITAL LETTERS, like, "HI I HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A GOOD DAY" in your e-mail, people think you are SHOUTING at them. Save caps for very important messages.

There are cute little things called emoticons (emotional icons) that help people know when you are kidding or smiling.
