The Henry David Thoreau Comprehensive Science Education School which is located in northwest Milwaukee, Wisconsin, firmly believes that each child comes to school as a human being unique in his own physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development. We believe the child learns best when their natural curiosity and desire for learning are satisfied through quality experiences that provide for effective and efficient learning. We will provide a well balanced program of respect, responsibility, initiative, and pride. Teachers will collaborate to employ new ideas new methods, and activities as a means of preparing students for a changing world.

It is the mission of Henry David Thoreau School to achieve our targeted goals of:

1. Students will display a respect for and acceptance of diversified cultural/ethnic groups.
2. Students will exhibit positive strategies to respond to racist and biased materials and behaviors.
3. Students will develop self-esteem by respecting self and others.
4. Students will be able to listen, share, and take turns.
5. Students will develop the ability to solve mathematical problems.

This will be accomplished through our rigorous curriculum and by ensuring all students meet grade level proficiencies. We believe by doing so, we will provide our community with interested, active, and educated citizens.
