About CRC's District Advisory Council (DAC)

Every two years, the parents involved in the local School Council of MPS schools that are funded under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) are encouraged to elect two parent representatives to Milwaukee's District Advisory Council. The mission of the DAC is to equip parents to help students achieve high standards by promoting team building with parents, community and schools; and by providing parents with educational opportunities to develop multicultural awareness and respect for diversity. To accomplish this, the DAC will provide tools and resources to enable parents to make informed decisions regarding educational opportunities for all children.

DAC meeting information:

When: at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month that schools are in session

Where: generally at the MPS Central Services auditorium located at 5225 W. Vliet Street in Milwaukee

Topics: These meetings often feature a speaker on a topic of interest and give the district a way to provide information and training that can be shared with all schools through their parent representatives.

Audience: Anyone can attend these meetings. MPS parents are particularly encouraged to attend. (However, only elected school representatives whose names are submitted by home schools are allowed to take part in votes).

Contact Information for the MPS DAC

Each year, an Executive Committee of the DAC is elected to conduct business between meetings, including the planning of agendas. Anyone having concerns to be addressed at the DAC may send them to the attention of the Executive Committee. Communication to the current Executive Committee Chairperson, Ms. Lula Robinson, may be relayed through any one of the Community Relations staff members listed above.
