Principal's Page
Mr. Tom Matthews attended Cardinal Stritch University, where he received his B.S. and M.A. He began his career with MPS in 1986 and has spent the majority of his time with the district in middle school settings. Being appointed Principal of Trowbridge is a great opportunity for Mr. Matthews because he loves working with the district’s younger students. He has found the Trowbridge School community to be welcoming and nurturing, like an extended family. As Trowbridge School moves forward, the vision for the next five years includes an integrated curriculum focusing on ecological studies – The Great Lakes and Fresh Water Studies. With a commitment to high performance in every classroom, Mr. Matthews hopes to boost student achievement with real-world application of academic concepts, frequent use of technology and Internet resources to reinforce learning and positive relationships with teachers. By engaging community arts organizations and welcoming them into Trowbridge, Mr. Matthews has enhanced the Arts curriculum. When he is not in school, Mr. Matthews enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, attending festivals and enjoying all that Milwaukee has to offer. Mr. Matthews enjoys meeting with Milwaukee students and families to discuss the importance of education and how Trowbridge can help each and every child grow into a confident, self-motivated learner!
