Technology

Today, more than ever, technology is a critical component of education. As the world becomes more globally connected and interactivity among cultures becomes the norm, it is imperative for all students to familiarize themselves with the latest technology. The technology curriculum at Vincent integrates the latest software with core academic areas, ensuring that students acquire research strategies, navigation abilities and Internet skills necessary to achieve future success in a competitive market.

Vincent’s graphics and art lab offers fully networked computers and a variety of modern educational software and academic applications to keep learners on the cutting edge of technology. Adobe Creative Suite is utilized to give learners much needed experience with graphic arts tools as well as the opportunity to express their creativity through 21st century media outlets.

The Project Lead the Way program implemented at Vincent features a Design Academy Bundle for students to use. This includes a variety of software programs such as Inventor, AutoCAD and many more. By learning to effectively use these design systems, students gain an edge that will help them compete in the real world after graduation.

Vincent’s technology-rich Read 180 curriculum helps students advance their individual reading skills while increasing their knowledge of educational software programs. Read 180 is a reading intervention program designed to meet the needs of students by integrating technology into instruction centered on phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.

The technology curriculum at Vincent also prepares students to effectively use the software in the Microsoft Office suite of applications. Students learn word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, layout and e-mail skills. This is accomplished through a series or projects that reflect real world scenarios, not only increasing student knowledge of the software, but also reinforcing writing and mathematics skills.

Vincent also offers a strong education in non-computer technology. This includes automotive and small engine shops, welding and metal fabrication, robotics and hands-on electronic courses.
