The Violence Prevention Program (VPP) is an effort by the Milwaukee Public Schools to
respond to the violence that is prevalent within our schools and community. As part of the Department of Psychological Services, under the coordination of Dr. Audrey Potter,
The VPP has served K-12 public schools in the city of Milwaukee since 1988. The team is currently
comprised of educators who operate under the following mission statement:
Schools are communities where
People want to be and feel safe
People are empowered to learn and make a difference
People are committed to the well being of children and seek to understand them better
The activities of the VPP are focused to meet specific objectives:
increased student achievement, decreased behavior problems as measured by office referrals,
teacher skill development that meets the needs of the district's student population, and
developing measurement tools that can identify areas of success as well as need.
Our programs also support the positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) initiative within Milwaukee Public Schools.
All of our programs provide Level 1 and Level 2 intervention and support.
