“In 1992, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education from UW-Milwaukee and began teaching that same year. My favorite part of being a teacher is learning from my students as they learn from me. I also love simply talking with my students, learning about their backgrounds and hearing their opinions. They are constantly opening my eyes to new thoughts and ideas. Students enjoy my classroom because I help them realize that sometimes it just takes a little extra practice or time to really understand certain topics. My classroom provides students with a comfortable environment where all of them can feel at home. I believe that all students are capable of learning and it just takes us, as educators and parents, to figure out the best possible environment in which a child can learn. For example, some children learn best one-on-one, others visually or through direct instruction. My students should know that I dislike the phrase “I can’t” as well as judgmental remarks. They know how much I love them and that I am always there for them – day or night. Also, I love chocolate and the color purple! My favorite things about WCLL are teaching in the MRP classroom, working with my colleagues and meeting all the talented students!” |
