Phillis Wheatley Elementary School is a NCA Accreditted Institution that educates over 260 students in 4 year old kindergarten through fifth grade. Our four year old and five year old kindergartens are full day programs. We also provide an early childhood special services classroom. We are a P-5 School which limits class sizes to 25 students. We have a full-time specialist in Art with students exhibiting work in several competitions and around the community. Wheatley is a technology school emphasizing the use of computers and equipment to enhance the basic cornerstones of education. There are two computer labs, one Mac based and one Dell with 25 stations each, as well as a computer station in the media center and four computers in each room. Every room is connected to the internet opening the doors to research and communication with the world. Wheatley offers many community services. Our social worker and school psychologist are always ready to answer questions and help families find services and resources that they need. Our parent center offers several meeting opportunities for parents as well as special activity nights for families. The recreation department runs a before and after school CLC program that is open on a free basis to students who sign-up.

The staff of Phillis Wheatley School endeavors to develop in our students high standards of academic excellence while preparing students to use technologies capably, actively, and responsibly. We also strive to develop and enhance those character traits necessary for a disciplined life in conduct, attitude and learning in preparation of students' transition from one level of schooling to the next.
